CITY WALLS: The first breach of the walls was by the FOURTH CRUSADE in 1204, the second by the cannons and troops of SULTAN MEHMET THE CONQUEROR in 1453.
DRIVE BY CAR TO GOLDEN HORN: As a natural and extremely secure harbor the Golden Horn has played an important role in the development of Istanbul. The inlet separates the European shore into two. It is approximately 8 km long, and the widest part is the enterance from the Bosphorus. Two streams drain into this inlet at its far end
SPICE BAZAAR (Egyptian Bazaar): The air here is filled with the enticing aromas of cinnamon, caraway, saffron, mint, thyme and every other concievable herb and spice.
BOSPHORUS ON BOAT: A traditional excursion by boat along the waterway seperating Europe and Asia. The shore is lined with old wooden villas, palaces of marble, fortresses, and small fishing villages. During the excursion you will pass the magnificent Dolmabahce Palace.
RUMELI FORTRESS (From the sea) The biggest castle of Istanbul can be seen clearly during our Bosphorus Cruise.
ST. SOPHIA:This ancient basilica, built by Contantine the Great, in the 4th century and reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century, is one of the architectural marvels of all time.
SULTANAHMET IMPERIAL MOSQUE: Across from St. Sophia built in the 17th century by the architect Mehmet, this is known as the BLUE MOSQUE because of its magnificent interior decoration of blue Iznik tiles.
HIPPODROME: The scene of ancient with its four monuments, the GERMAN FOUNTAIN OF WILHELM II, the OBELISK OF THEODOSIUS, the bronze SERPENTINE COLUMN and the CLUMN OF CONSTANTINE.
